Things are going very well on the lingerie front - my mom phoned yesterday to tell me that her new bra fits very well! She sounded delighted. The fabric (cotton-lycra) is cool and comfortable to wear.

My ma het gistermiddag gebel en vertel dat haar nuwe BH baie goed sit. Die katoen-lycra stof is koel en komfortabel.

I also made a crop-top style bra for my daughter to match one of the boxer shorts I made for her a few weeks ago. This is her second set! I cloned the pattern from a "seamless" polyester bra I bought for her last year. She finds the handmade underwear more comfortable - some of the RTW elastic makes her itch.

Ek het ook 'n crop-top BH vir my dogter gemaak van dieselfde katoen-lycra wat pas by 'n boxer short gemaak van 'n selfgetekende patroon. Haar tweede setje! Ek het die BH patroon afgeteken van 'n gekoopte BH wat sy nie meer dra nie omdat dit jeuk.

I ventured into completely uncharted territory this weekend: I cloned a pair of underpants for my husband! It took me just a few hours to make the pattern and have the first pair ready to wear - and it looks just like the original. Can't wait to get some more interesting fabrics to try out.

Daarna 'n herenonderbroek-patroon afgeteken van 'n bestaande van my man - dit het net 'n paar uur geduur voordat ek  'n perfekte kopie gehad het. So maklik om te maak in vergelyking met 'n BH! Wil nou graag leuke stofjes gebruik om 'n bietjie meer interessante ondergoed te maak.

Encouraged by this success, I then drafted a swimsuit block according to Stuart's directions at patternschool.com and made a pattern for a Speedo-style swimming costume for my husband, who swims regularly at a swimming club. I have made a wearable muslin from matte lycra, with a stretchy tactel lining (one of my recent buys - labeled "tactel gusset lining"). I am using flat rubber for the waist and legs.

Na my sukses hiermee, het ek 'n basispatroon vir 'n badpak geteken volgens die instruksies by patternschool.com. Ek het die basispatroon gebruik om 'n Speedo-tipe badpak te teken vir my man. Ek het dit geknip uit matte lycra en gaan dit voer met 'n "tactel" voering - baie dun en rekbaar en sal rubber gebruik vir die taille en beenopeninge.


And my next project? ... another bra for myself, for which I am planning to dye the fabric, but (not surprisingly) I haven't got round to doing that yet!
